The three people I was given were:
Zaha Hadid
Organic forms
Architecture
Wendy Carlos
Future vs past
Stanley Kubrick films
John Cage
Experimental
I already knew of all 3 of them and interested in all 3, which made it hard. My initial thoughts were:
Zaha already has visual language - which might make it harder to be original
Zaha was a woman in a male-dominated profession
Fairly ruthless - such belief in her own ideas
Remember listening to her desert island discs and she had the most relentless working habits - almost not human. Seems similar to working habits of architecture people I know
(whats an all nighter?).
She lived a crazy life and build buildings that seem to come from space - strange personality she could be from space
architecture is a weird combo of art and logic
Wendy Carlos' music is quite visual- that might be interesting to try and translate?
Wendy transitioned at a time when it was super unusual
Fits somewhere between elevator music and experimental electronic music
Don't know much about John Cage but he did some weird/interesting stuff. Uninhibited experimentation
Want to know more about John
he was spiritual - eastern ideas
interest in chance and randomisation
Such a sinister music/film intro

Zaha was wild - also she has Drake and Adele on there

Like how she talks about growing up in Iraq - challenges the current western view of the middle east
What was John thinking?

This last one reminded me of some video art I saw in the Tate when I went to London recently. Video art is so regularly bad. Had multiple screens with people doing things and bits of cars and stuff - the soundtrack was traffic recorded by John Cage.
Next I think I need to try experimenting - seeing if I can work out if one of these is stronger than another I could probably go with either of these. I think John and Wendy need sound mapping - something else - organic? for Zaha. I feel like I'll need to avoid copying Zaha's style - but what else to draw from?
Visually I'm feeling this is gonna get abstract to communicate non-visual ideas. Need to remember the things I learnt in visual narratives.
