Drawing machines

Jamie suggested drawing machines in my tutorial - mechanical reproduction rather than digital. The first one I tried was with the scissors, tool and pen. It made the images more crude but it still felt quite a lot like I was drawing. I attached the pen to an old lens - the movement is not very similar to drawing so it felt more like a machine - but it didn't really function - could barely even get marks. Tried a pen in a bike pump, again, didn't really work. Tried blowing ink with the pump - also didn't really work. Next I will try getting some string or wire and maybe create something a bit more complicated - maybe operated by more than one person - nous vous?
